A & B was formerly the King Edward Hotel, 1905-1917. It was also at various times (from what I heard) a hospital of sorts, and a whorehouse. When I got there in '77 before it opened there was a corridor (outside) between the two buildings which fronted onto Yates, and a spiral staircase replaced with the straight one that's probably still there. The end building on Broad was a separate, and was demolished and redone to match and extend the corner building on Yates and Broad I should have a couple of pictures inside. I'm the only one who was there from when the big store opened in Dec 77 until it went bankrupt. Fred Weyerman
