Event Description
HALLELUJAH PRAISE 2!
2nd Annual Black History Month Gospel Music Celebration
Vancouver, BC – As the New Year begins and resolutions are made, Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir is celebrating Black History Month by inviting those who want to sing in 2013 to join the choir for a weekend workshop and concert. “Good Noise” had a banner year in 2012, singing with Barbra Streisand at Rogers Arena and having the choir’s Christmas CD nominated for a Canadian Gospel Music Covenant Award. Knowing the joy and the value of singing, the choir has created a weekend opportunity for singers of all kinds to raise their voices in song. Whether a singer that loves gospel and popular music, is trained in Opera or one who has voice that is yet to be heard, all those who love to sing and make a joyful noise singing dynamic gospel music are invited to participate. No audition or experience is necessary. Workshop participants and Good Noise members will create a Mass Gospel Choir with over 100 voices celebrating Black History Month through the power and joy of gospel music. At the Gospel Music Workshop, singers of all levels and genres are given the unique opportunity to spend a day in rehearsal with Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir and Director Gail Suderman. Participants explore the history of gospel music, learn music in the oral tradition, and share a day with people who love to sing. Singers from all over BC came to Vancouver last year to attend this special event. To wrap up the weekend, the Mass Gospel Choir performs in a Gala Gospel Music Concert, performing in the beautiful setting of Ryerson United Church in Kerrisdale. The Hallelujah Praise2! weekend offers an opportunity to sing, learn, perform and celebrate Black History Month while experiencing the joy and power of the gospel choral sound.
