On Oct. 17, UVic jazz professor Dr. Patrick Boyle joins Victoria's most exciting dance band, The Capital City Syncopators, for an evening guaranteed to swing. This eccentric five-piece band plays Prohibition-era jazz, novelty songs, hits from the 1980s, and country-swing with a distinct modern edge. “One of the most interesting things about this band is how deeply they care about this music and how it's presented,” says Boyle. We hope to bring the spirit of a Prohibition-era speakeasy to the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall stage.” To make this night even more unforgettable, members of the UVic Swing Dance Club will join the band onstage.
